Tory and Jeremy

Our cousin Tory got married yesterday! Tory is such a sweet, kind, and darling girl... we're glad she found this happiness with her now-husband! We are so excited for this milestone in her life.

We couldn't make it down to Southern Utah for her wedding or reception this week... so we were glad to participate in the excitement by designing her wedding announcements! Tory wanted mint, red, and green for her colors... and I think her theme turned out to be so darling!

Tory actually just used the black and white photo for the back of her announcements, but I decided to whip something up just for fun in some of my free time. The front side and insert are what she really sent out, and the back was just a creative project for my own enjoyment!

Thanks for letting us design your announcements, Tory. You look absolutely beautiful in all of your engagement pictures and we are sad we couldn't see you on your wedding day. Congratulations!

A Christmas Card

Time to share one of my personal projects!

Every year we like to send out Christmas Cards to friends and family. We usually have my talented sister Brooklyn take our photos, and then we whip up something festive on our design software. This year we're expecting a baby, so we decided to include him in the theme.

We enjoy sending our yearly update to our loved ones... but we enjoy receiving other peoples' cards even more! Our coat closet door always looks so jolly, adorned with various seasons' greetings. Here is the card we designed for this year!

Burgundy and Thread Co.

Tamera Merkley recently decided to open her own clothing business, and we were thrilled when she asked us to help her with her branding! Tamera has such a gorgeous sense of style, and we can't wait to watch her become successful with this new adventure she's begun.

Tamera launched her business this week, so you all should follow the links below and purchase some new clothes for the holidays! Seriously... everything on her website is darling. I'm personally eyeing this woven sweater because it looks perfect for the long winter days we have ahead.

You can follow and shop at Burgundy and Thread Co. on Instagram (@burgundyandthreadco) or by clicking on this link to view the website.

We created a couple of different logo images for Tamera, as well as some business cards for her to pass out to clients! We love how her branding and business are turning out. Thanks for letting us be part of this new endeavor, Tamera! We are wishing you the very best of luck!

A Baby Shower.

I hosted my first-ever baby shower at my apartment last week. A good friend in our ward, Channelle Holm, is having her first baby in January and I wanted to celebrate this milestone with her! The Holms have been great neighbors and friends, and we are so excited for this new chapter in their lives.

Here is the invitation I designed for Channelle's baby shower! I decided to go with a Christmas/winter theme for the shower because she's having her baby so close to the holidays. I adorned the house with extra Christmas Decorations and we served hot cocoa and cookies. I just can't get enough of all the Christmas festivities!

Channelle's due date is January 1st. I keep telling her that I'm hoping she has the New Year Baby... because who doesn't want to win free baby supplies??!! Anyway, I love when I get the opportunity to design projects for more personal things... and putting together Channelle's shower was such a blast. Best of luck with the new baby, Channelle!

Quirky Beautiful Photography

We designed a logo for another freelance photographer! When Rebekah Whitesides told us about her ideas for her business, Quirky Beautiful Photography, I couldn't wait to get started. While working with her we could tell she has a lot of passion for photography, and we couldn't wait to design a logo based on the whimsical, quirky, beautiful style that she captures!

We created a logo, watermark image, and business card for Quirky Beautiful Photography, and Rebekah was a gem to work with! See her contact information below to book a session with her, or search the tag #quirkybeautifulphotography to see some of her previous work. Below you'll see her logo and the back and front of her business card. Thanks for giving us the wonderful opportunity to work with you, Rebekah!

Brittney Later Photography

Brittney asked us to create a branding for her photography business! We were so excited to work on another project. The image in Brittney's logo was inspired by Brittney's husband, who calls her "honeybee". How cute is that???

Brittney was one of the best clients we've ever had. She was so fun to work with, it makes me think about how fun she would be to have as a photographer! If you want to see Brittney's photography, her website is www.brittneylater.com. She has such an artistic taste and sweet personality, we are sure you'll have a great experience if you book with her!

Thanks for letting us design your logo Brittney. We are wishing you the best as you continue in your photography business!

Sarah DeYoung Photography

When Sarah asked us to design her logo for her freelance photography business, we were thrilled! I've seen some of Sarah's photography, and you can tell she really loves her clients and her work. I especially loved looking at some of the hospital birth stories she photographed.

Sarah wanted something versatile for her logo and business card, and watermark proofs. To create this versatility, we included a watercolor background on the full logo that can always be removed for when she uses the logo on directly on her photos. I think the style she chose is very classy and simple, and it totally reflects her artistic endeavors!

If you're looking for a great photographer, check out her page on Facebook or view some of her work here.

Thanks for letting us design your logo, Sarah! We hope you like it.

A Halloween Party Invite.

Kyle and I hosted our third-annual Halloween party this year. Because of our smaller apartment space, we decided to hold an open-house event for our friends (rather than cramming everyone into our tiny living room at the same time).

It took us a while to come up with a theme for our open-house. We knew we wanted to serve some fancy non-alcoholic beverages, so "Masks and Mocktails" ended up being a fun way to combine a Halloween theme with the drinks we had planned.

Sometimes I have the most fun designing my own announcements, only because I have total freedom to do what I want with the design. We usually just send out our party announcements via text message (and on Facebook), so I format the size to fit a typical smart phone. Here is the picture of our digital invites.

Thanks for everyone who attended our Halloween open-house! We didn't have too many people come by, but we really enjoyed the quality conversation and catching-up we were able to have with some of our closest friends.

Wedding Design

This is a set of mock wedding announcements I worked on recently. I love having extra time in the summer to play with some design work, and this set of wedding announcements is one of my favorite projects I've done. Like I've said before, floral design is probably one of my favorite things! Take a look:

Aimee and Brady

Aimee is one of the most genuine, kind-hearted people I know. I met Aimee in the singles ward during the summer between my freshman and sophomore year of college, and she immediately befriended me and welcomed me into a group of friends that I am blessed to know.

When Aimee asked me to design her wedding announcements, I couldn't have been more thrilled! Aimee deserves every happiness that marriage can bring, and I'm glad she found a man who treats her with respect. Her country chic wedding was adorable... and I'm glad I was able to be part of the celebration. Thanks for letting us design your announcements Aimee!

A Cousin's Bridal Shower

My mom threw a bridal shower for my cousin Paige last week, and Mom asked me to design the invitations! Wedding-related projects are my absolute favorite, so of course I didn't hesitate to design these for her!

We always have a great time getting together with all of the ladies in the family for these kinds of events. Family time is the best time! Paige is such a fun, spunky, happy cousin and I'm so glad we got to spend time with her.

Kyle is Graduating!

My sweet husband graduates with his bachelor's degree next week! Kyle has worked so hard for this degree, and we're excited for this milestone event in his life. I decided to throw together a graduation announcement so we can send the news to family and friends. Congratulations, honey! You have earned all of the great things that are coming your way, and I am so proud of you!

Pebbles and Acorns

When Kahana emailed us and said she wanted to start a company for children's clothing, we couldn't wait to get started on her logo. She and her business partner had a lot of fun and playful ideas, and we were excited to help them get started on their new business endeavors.

Kahana's business isn't up yet... but when it is, we'll be sure to post about it here! She was great to work with, and we hope she has a lot of success with her future company. Thanks for letting us design for you, Kahana!

RachelKae Jenkins - Makeup

My cousin Rachel is an extremely talented freelance makeup artist. I love watching her tutorials on Youtube, and her Instagram account is chalk-full of stunning pictures! I especially love seeing Rachel's work on other people because I feel like she really knows how to switch-up the look she's doing to match the personality of her client. Rachel can master anything from a natural/soft look to a drastic/glamorous look... depending on what her client wants.

I was ecstatic when Rachel asked me to design a logo for her. I think the best part of this project was pulling out my own makeup collection, rummaging around to see if any lipsticks or palettes inspired me. Thanks for letting me design your logo, Rachel!

Also, if you're looking for a makeup artist, Rachel is your girl! Contact her to do your makeup for ANY event. You will not be disappointed! I changed her phone number on the card seen below for internet security purposes, but Rachel's email is listed correctly! Be sure to check out her Instagram account, @rachelkaejenkins as well as her Youtube channel of the same name. Thanks again, Rach!

Sam and Lindsey

Sam and Lindsey are a stellar couple. I have never been around two people as genuine or as generous as Sam and Lindsey. Kyle and I have known Sam for a while now, but we have come to love Lindsey very quickly! She baked us the most delicious dinner when we met to discuss her announcements! Also, she was one of the most easy-going brides I have ever worked with. Lindsey proved that being a calm bride pays off... because we went to their wedding and everything was gorgeous! I cannot stress how lucky we are to consider Sam and Lindsey our friends. Thanks for letting us design your announcements Lindsey, and thanks for inviting us to be part of your special day.

Kenny and Shelby

I love floral wedding announcements. Flowers are just so bright and happy, and I love arranging the different colors and watching it all come together. I was excited when Shelby asked me to design her wedding announcements, but I was even more excited when she told me she wanted something floral.

Shelby and I went to college together, and I always loved chatting with her or performing with her. She's smart, pretty, and humble. She definitely deserves a great guy, and I'm glad she's happy! Thanks for letting us design your announcements Shelby. And by the way... your wedding was absolutely gorgeous!

Easter Printable

Easter is on the way, and we don't have a lot of spring decorations around the house. I'm not a big fan of crafting, and I'm not a big fan of dusting either... so in my mind, the more holiday crafts I have to try and make, the more dusting I have to do when I set them out. It's just not worth it.

And besides, I'm really a "less is more" kind of gal when it comes to home decor. I can't have too many trinkets and knick-knacks on my shelves or I just start to feel claustrophobic. (Except for Christmastime. We love decorating at Christmas). When I visit other people's homes, I love looking at all of their cute, festive home decorations. It always looks so tasteful. But when I try to fill my house with too much of the paraphernalia, it just ends up looking cluttered.

So, to try and add a little festivity to our home, I made some printables this weekend for all of the major holidays and seasons. I have a picture frame sitting on the piano in our front room, and I have a printable for each holiday to go inside the picture frame. I think it's a good compromise. Kyle gets a little taste of the holidays in our home, and I don't have to make, store, or dust all of the little trinkets. One picture frame, a few pieces of 4x6 photo paper, and there you have it.

Anyway, I decided to share our printable for Easter, just in case anyone else might like an easy addition to their Easter home decor.

The Annual Harry Potter Party

For two years in a row now, Kyle and I have hosted a Harry Potter Party sometime around Halloween. We have a blast, eating Harry Potter-themed snacks and dressing up in our wizarding robes. I'm glad we have friends who enjoy the books and movies as much as we do, friends cool enough to revel in the magic of Harry Potter with us. This past year I decided to send out a virtual invitation instead of a hard-copy one, but I still wanted to make something a little fancy for the occasion. Here is a copy of our invitation from last year's party. Take a look!

Ashton and Lori

Our worlds collided when Ashton and Lori started dating. We knew both people in the relationship. Ashton: my good friend from college, and Lori: Kyle's sister! We couldn't have been more excited when they got engaged! Ashton and Lori make a great team, and we were thrilled to help out with their wedding details. Kyle did most of the work on this wedding announcement, and I think he did a great job at capturing his sister's personality in the design. Congratulations you guys! Your wedding day was beautiful.

Brooklyn - Photography

My sister Brooklyn is our go-to photographer. (She took all of the pictures of Kyle and I for this site). Brooklyn's still pretty young to be involved in a time-consuming photography business, but we decided it would be fun to make a logo for her. Plus, this gave me a reason to design something different from what I normally do! Most of our requests are for weddings these days. We love designing for weddings, but we're also interested in other projects, too. This was a fun way to practice some more business-oriented design work. Thanks for always taking fantastic photos of us, Brooklyn! We hope you like your new logo.

Grad Announcement.

This is a personal project from a few years ago, back when Photoshop was very new to me. My sister Brooklyn was nice enough to come up to Ogden and take some pictures for me. After editing the pictures, I just threw an announcement design together (it was really fast, in the midst of finals and graduation prep).

As Kyle and I have been putting this blog together, it's been really fun looking through all of our design work. It's interesting to see how our styles change, too. Anyway, here's a copy of the graduation announcement we made. I can't believe it's almost been two years since I got my degree!

Kyle's Mock Design.

Sometimes, when we're bored around here, we start playing with different designs.

One of Kyle's favorite foods is a Vietnamese dish called "Pho", which is sort of like a beef vegetable broth. Kyle served an LDS mission with the Hmong people in Fresno, so he really enjoys a lot of the foods they make. A few years ago, it was pretty hard to find a Pho shop in Utah, but recently we've noticed that they're becoming more common. I think it's a secret dream of Kyle's to own a Pho shop (he's that obsessed, you guys). Anyway, he did this mock business design for a Vietnamese Pho restaurant, and I thought it was pretty awesome. Take a look!

Dax & Abbey Smith

Abbey is one of the classiest ladies we know, and after seeing their engagement photos... we knew we would have a blast designing her announcements! Abbey wanted a vintage, floral announcement for her wedding... with some influences from Downton Abbey and Great Gatsby in the mix! Putting the floral wreath together was my favorite part. I've just been dying for someone to ask me to do a floral announcement. Anyway, Abbey's entire wedding was beautiful, and we felt privileged to be part of it all! Dax and Abbey make a lovely couple. Thanks for trusting us with your once-in-a-lifetime experience, Abbey! We hope married life is treating you well.

The First Project.

Here is the first graphic design project Kyle and I ever did together. I saw some of Kyle's graphic art skills while we were dating, and I had some pretty specific ideas in mind for my wedding announcements. When Kyle told me he was willing to help me create our own invitations, I knew it was a project I wanted to work on with him! Kyle has taught me everything I know about graphic design and digital editing, and I can't believe how far we've come since this first artistic endeavor we had together! Take a look!
